On the 1st of June, our class went on a school tour to Sports Campus Ireland and the National Aquatic Centre. We woke up early, excited for the day ahead, and boarded the bus eagerly.
As we arrived at the Sports Campus Ireland, we were amazed by how big the campus was and the many sports facilities, including football, rugby, and tennis courts. We went straight to the Indoor Athletics track where we practised some sprints and a relay race on the actual track. Our class then got a chance to play basketball, do lots of gymnastics in the amazing gymnastics area. We even got to try out Rebounding, a long 30m version of a bouncy castle where we got to practice our jumps and have a class competition or two. The highlight of the visit was going to the Gymnastics area, we could even see some professional athletes practising.
Following our visit to the Athletics Centre, we headed to the National Aquatic Centre. When we saw the pools and slides, we could hardly contain our excitement. The wave pool was a particular favourite among our group, providing endless fun. We raced each other on the many slides and enjoyed floating around the lazy river.
After our exciting day, we headed back to the bus exhausted but satisfied. The journey home was long and few people had a well deserved nap, but we were thankful for the memories we created. We are already looking forward to where Mr Monaghan will bring us for next years school tour!
