No. 3 “Do the Earth a Favour, Be a Water Saver”
- Rainwater is collected and used to water the school garden.
- Hippo bags have been placed in toilet cisterns to save water.
- Every child has a drinking bottle and we now only half fill these bottles.
- At home we are encouraged to turn off the tap when brushing our teeth and try to take a shower instead of a bath.
- Parents are advised to only wash with a full load in the washing machine.
- Our main Action Day on the Water theme was a visit by Pat Durkin from Heritage Ireland. He was our guide on a whole school outing to the Delour River in neighbouring Camross. Pat familiarised the children with plant, bird, and animal life in the river habitat.
- Our second Action Day was a treat for children from the most inland county in Ireland – a day spent surfing and exploring rockpools on Tramore beach in Co. Waterford.
